Local Clonmellon Community Radio presenter Barbara-Ann McKenna has made a decision to undergo a gastric band operation as a last resort to try to lose weight.

barbara ann band"I have always struggled with my weight," she said, "I suffered from several childhood conditions which made it almost impossible to maintain a normal weight"
As a last resort, Barbara-Ann made the decision to have an operation to help her in her battle against the bulge. She has tried nearly all of the diest out there with varying degrees of success, at nearly 50, and with menopause looming around the corner Barbara-Ann wants to get down to a normal weight.  In her own words "the pains in my knee joints are so bad in the morning I tend to not go back upstairs once I have come down as going back up is just too painful".

Barbara-Ann was going to take out a bank loan to cover the cost of the operation but her husband Steven suggested a go fund me to try to raise some of the funds needed to keep any bank loan to a minimum.  Barbara-Ann has decided to keep a diary (online) of her journey and will post information and images.

We wish her the very best going forward and ask anybody interested in supporting her to visit the link below to the Go Fund Me page, or you can donate via the PayPal link.
